This Mam Tor walk starts in Castleton and heads up through Cave Dale before climbing Mam Tor, along to Hollins Cross then back down to Castleton. It's a lovely scenic Peak District walk of 6 miles. On International Women's Day 2022 I took part in my first group hike with a group of ladies I met online, organised by Acai and Emily aka Trigs.. Mam Tor is the big mountain in the background. Mam Tor is known as the 'Shivering Mountain', and it dominates the landscape around Castleton. Standing at 517 metres, it is one of the highest mountains in the Peak District. Once you make it to the top, you have these stunning views of the White Peaks and the gorge at Winnats Pass.
